On March 19, The Carter Presidential Library will debut a new exhibit of photos by acclaimed photographer Jean Mohr called "War from the Victims' Perspective."
The traveling exhibit is part of a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the International Committee of the Red Cross and is being presented jointly by the Library, ²Ø¾«¸ó, and the Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta. An opening reception begins at 5 p.m. and will be followed at 6:15 by a panel discussion entitled "Reality on the Ground: The Humanitarian Situation in Syria."
"War from the Victims Perspective" features a collection of images by Mohr, a Swiss photographer who has been working with international organizations - including the International Red Cross and the United Nations - since the 1950s. His work captures people around the world whose lives have been impacted by armed conflicts and violence.
The exhibition, which was produced by the Musée de l'Elysée, Lausanne, and the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be opened by Martin Dahinden, Switzerland's ambassador to the United States. It will remain on display in the Presidential Museum through June 28.
The panel discussion on the humanitarian situation in Syria will feature Nathalie Fustier from the U.N. Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs; Patrick Hamilton of the International Committee of the Red Cross; Mouin Rabanni, an independent Middle East analyst; and Roland Steininger from the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The media is invited to attend the opening reception and panel discussion on March 19. Please RSVP to Soyia Ellison by March 16 if you plan to attend.
