The Conference and Events Services Office supports Carter Center programs and departments by planning and executing conferences, media events, and social events to meet Center objectives. The Events Office works with every program and department at ²Ø¾«¸ó, in addition to working with outside clients to execute high-level, high-profile events. The department also markets Carter Center facilities to outside organizations, assists external clients with planning, and executes their events within Carterfacilities.
The Conference and Events Services intern will work in an open and instructive environment with tailored assignments to suit each intern's educational and professional goals. Tasks may include marketing for prospective clients, setting up for events, and communicating with current clients. Prospective interns must be detailed oriented, deadline conscious, and professional.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Attention to detail
• Appreciation of critical path and thorough follow-through
• Background, either academically or experientially, in the hospitality industry, (i.e. catering, hotel, or conference centers), marketing, or management are preferred
• Accompany staff on site visits
• Work with external event sponsors
• Assist Events staff in executing events
• Generate Events-specific social media content
• Attend pre-conference planning meetings
• Maintain Events' files, as well as client and financial databases
• Update and disseminate event information to Carteras a whole
• Coordinate with an internal department to facilitate meetings and conferences
